New Delhi: West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard on Wednesday suddenly announced his retirement from international cricket. Pollard revealed his decision on social media. Pollard has surprised everyone by saying goodbye to international cricket in the middle of the IPL, as it was expected that Pollard could be a strong part of the West Indies in this year's T20 World Cup.

West Indies batsman Kieron Pollard, is playing for the Mumbai Indians in the 15th season of IPL 2022, which is the most unsuccessful team at the moment, as Mumbai has not won a single match so far. This news of Kieron Pollard's retirement has also been overshadowed by the indigenous social media platform, Koo. Kieron Pollard announced his retirement, saying, "I am grateful to the various selectors, the team management and especially coach Phil Simmons, for seeing the potential in me and having believed in me throughout my career. The trust cricket West Indies showed in me was particularly fantastic. I took up the challenge by leading the team. I thank Cricket West Indies President Ricky Skerritt, especially for his unwavering support and encouragement during my time as captain.'' At the same time, Team India's batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has also reacted to Pollard's decision.

Pollard has played cricket for the West Indies for 15 years. He has played 123 ODIs and 101 T20 Internationals for the West Indies. He made his one-day debut against South Africa in April 2007 and made his T20I debut against Australia in Bridgetown the very next year. With this, Pollard had hit six sixes in an over against Sri Lanka in 2021. He hit six consecutive sixes in Akila Dhananjaya's over. Pollard was the second batsman to do so in T20 Internationals after former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh.

Pollard, who made his international debut for the West Indies in the year 2007, has shocked all his fans by announcing his sudden retirement. Pollard captained the team in the 2021 T20 World Cup and after that, he was also the captain of the team in the T20 series against England. Pollard had played the T20 and ODI series against India even before the IPL, in which his team faced a clean sweep. Kieron Pollard did not play a single Test match in a career spanning 15 years, because his imprint on the team was as an explosive batsman, so he was provided more and more T20 and ODI cricket. Kieron Pollard became the first ODI and T20 player for the West Indies without playing any Test matches.
