11th class girl and mother thrashed with rods
tyle="text-align:justify">Manikchand: Thursday, a Class IX girl and her mother were harshly trodden up along with a local Gram Panchayat member when they protested the harassment of the girl by a local youth at Manikchak in Malda district.
A senior police officer said the family members of the youth 20 year old Noor Ali thrashed the girl and her mother with rods and stick when they went to Ali's residence to complain against continued harassment and stalking of the girl allegedly by the youth at public places in the past one year.
The officer said, “As the local Gram Panchayat member Ayush Karani intervened and tried to stop the attackers, he too was beaten up allegedly by Ali's family members including women”.
As per police report, “All the three were taken to Kaliachak Gramin Hospital’. However the accused are in absconding.
