Massive landslide dumps five houses under thousands tons of debris

Shimla: Heavy rain lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh on Monday causing havoc. About six houses have been washed away due to floods caused by the change in the Woh valley of Shahpur assembly constituency under Kangra district. So far, 12 people are said to be missing. The body of a woman has also been recovered.

The deceased woman has been identified as Masto Devi wife Bhimo Ram. Some people have been evacuated safely from the house. Those whose houses are situated on the banks of the river in The Woh Valley have been evacuated. Some gaushalas have also collapsed due to heavy rains. The NDRF team has also been called to the spot following the order of DC Kangra Nipun Jindal. The road leading to Woh has also been blocked due to landslides.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted from his official Twitter handle that he has spoken to CM Jairam Thakur about the natural calamity caused by heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh. NDRF teams are reaching there soon for relief operations. The Ministry of Home Affairs is constantly monitoring the situation. All possible assistance will be provided by the Centre to Himachal.
