Srinagar: Politicians in Jammu and Kashmir have always been a target of terrorists, but in the new trend, BJP leaders are now at the top of the hit list of terrorists. More than 18 BJP leaders have been killed in nearly four dozen attacks in the last 18 months. Now, the situation is that even after providing security personnel, BJP leaders are forced to spend nights away from their homes as they have no faith in their own security arrangements. Yesterday also, a BJP leader was attacked by a terrorist. In Kulgam district, militants opened fire suddenly at Baraglu Market on Tuesday evening.

Two civilians were injured in the firing. One of them has been identified as BJP leader Javed Ahmed. Javed succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital. Javed was in charge of BJP from the Kulgam constituency. Attacks on BJP leaders are not new. If you take a look at the figures from January last year to August 17 this year, it shows that more than four dozen BJP leaders were targeted by terrorists and half of them were successful. That is, 18 BJP leaders were killed during this period.

After the killing of 5 BJP leaders in July last year, the state BJP was upset when many of its leaders took to social media to announce their resignations. Though the BJP then started keeping its leaders in the Kea Safe House, but the terror attacks did not stop.
