Chennai: '2.0', starring veteran South Tamil actor and superstar Rajinikanth and Bollywood player Akshay Kumar, created a stir after its release in India. The film got a great opening. The film garnered tremendous performances in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions. On the strength of which the film did a great job. The film released on 6 September in China. But it did not get the same response there and the film proved to be a flop. '2.0' earned only Rs 22 crore in its first week in the Chinese market.

Earlier, another big-budget movie in India which did good business in India and abroad, could not do good business in China. 'Bahubali 2: The Conclusion' did not get a good response from the Chinese audience. Prabhas's film grossed only Rs 52 crore since its release. The poor performance of both these big films in China is being seen as a major setback in mainstream cinema's attempt to step into the Chinese market. Trade pundit Girish Johar said that he failed in earning what was expected.

Despite the best performance in India, both these films failed here. Both films got a good start at the box office. But the film could not take its start to its end. After getting a good start film failed to impress the Chinese audience.
