Bengal: 2 arrested for spying on Suvendu Adhikari's convoy

Kolkata: Police have arrested two people for spying and chasing the convoy of Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari in West Bengal. The arrested accused have been identified as Shantanu Maiti (27), Durgachak, Haldia and Rajiv Ali Shah (38), Vasantiya, and Kanthi.

This incident happened on Thursday night. Police have caught two suspicious youths from near the residence of Suvendu Adhikari. One of them was following the convoy of Suvendu Adhikari in a car and the other accused was following him on a bike. According to primary sources, they had reached Suvendu Adhikari's residence in front of Shantikunj. At the same time, he was arrested by the police after the complaint from CRPF. The police are currently interrogating the arrested accused and trying to find out why they were chasing him.

It is also learned that there were some files in the car. When the car and bike chasing the convoy reached Shantikunj in Kanthi, they were stopped by the CRPF personnel on duty. But, during the interrogation, both the suspects did not give any correct answer, and then the Kanthi police station was informed. Based on the information from CRPF, the police went and arrested both of them. Along with this, the bike and car have also been confiscated.
