New Delhi: Delhi Police has registered two FIRs against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President and BJP MP from Gonda, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. This FIR has been registered on the complaint of women wrestlers. In these FIRs related to sexual exploitation of women players, a POCSO act has been registered. However, the wrestlers are not satisfied with just the registration of the FIR. They are seen demanding the immediate arrest of the MP. Pranav Tayal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Delhi, said, “The first FIR pertains to the allegations leveled by a minor. It has been registered under the POCSO Act along with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for outraging the modesty of a woman."

Continuing his point in this regard, the DCP has said that, “The second FIR has also been registered on the basis of complaints made by other adult complainants under the Indian Penal Code section. It deals with outraging the modesty of a woman along with other similar sections." Both the FIRs have been registered at the Connaught Place police station in Delhi. Reports say that Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing in the Supreme Court on behalf of the Delhi Police, told the court on Friday (April 28, 2023) that an FIR would be registered against him. After which an FIR was registered in the evening.

However, the wrestlers who have been demanding registration of FIR till now have also said that the MP should be arrested immediately. If this does not happen then they are not going to end their strike. The wrestlers have also demanded the resignation of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh as an MP. Wrestler Satyavrat Kadian says, “It is good that the FIR has been registered. What will we get from FIR? Will we get justice through FIR? Delhi Police should have registered an FIR on the very first day itself. Our on-paper fight has just begun. Let's see what our legal team and coaches have to say. We are demanding that wrestling be separated from politics and the future of our women wrestlers be secured.”

Now that the demand of wrestlers to file an FIR against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been accepted by the Delhi Police, wrestler Vinesh Phogat has said that they do not trust the Delhi Police. Phogat has said “Our demand is that he (WFI President) should be put in jail. He should be removed from every post. Resign from the post of MP as well." Not only this, the protesting Bajrang Punia has said, “He (Brij Bhushan Singh) should be put in jail immediately. We are waiting for the FIR of the police that under which sections the case is registered. Union minister Anurag Thakur did not pick up our phone."
