Srinagar: Two soldiers were martyred and four others, including an officer, were injured in an encounter between two to three terrorists and security forces in Rajouri district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday (May 5) morning. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh has confirmed that the encounter started in Kandi forest area. 

According to reports, these are the same terrorists who ambushed an Indian Army truck at Tota Gali in Poonch sector on April 20, in which five soldiers were killed and another was injured. The encounter is still going on. Jammu-based Defense Spokesperson Lt. Col. Devendra Anand has told that, Indian Army is constantly using intelligence to eliminate a group of terrorists who ambushed an army truck carrying Ramadan Iftari in Tota Gali area of ​​Bhata Dhurian.

Colonel Anand further said that, On specific information about the hiding of terrorists in Kandi forest of Rajouri sector, a joint operation was launched on Wednesday. On Friday around 7:30 am, a search team found the terrorists who had entered a cave. This area is situated between steep rocks. He said, 'The terrorists fired a missile in retaliation. In this, two army soldiers were killed and 4 others including an officer were injured.'
