New Delhi: You may have a lot of problems buying alcohol in the coming days in the national capital. In fact, from today i.e. 1st October, about 250 liquor shops in Delhi are locked, no private liquor shop will be able to open for the next one and a half months. All this is happening because of the new excise policy in Delhi, but for now, people are having a lot of problems.

As per the new excise policy brought in by the Delhi government, all the 850 liquor shops in Delhi have been handed over to private firms. More than 250 of them still have private contracts. Under the new licence, liquor sales will start from November 17. In such a situation, the private shops which are there now will not get liquor from today. That is, from October 1 to November 16, Delhiites will have to buy liquor only from government liquor shops. These government shops will also be closed from November 17, as then everything will be in the hands of a private firm under the new policy.

The Delhi government has now urged the people not to keep any stock as there has been a lot of problems with liquor in Delhi for the past few days. The government says government liquor shops will have stock, so no one should be worried. It's just a transition time, so people may suffer for a while.
