There are many countries in the world which are known for their speciality. Myanmar is one such country whose name you must have heard, whose old name was Burma. This name was named after the Burmese caste here. In fact, its name is 'Myanma'. R is pronounced Y in the Burmese language. Similarly, the name of its former capital was later changed from Rangoon to Yangon. Myanmar is a Buddhist country. This place is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Shwedagon Pagoda of Myanmar is considered to be the most important and auspicious pagoda here. This pagoda 112 meters high is completely covered with gold. Its crown built above has more than 5000 diamonds and more than two thousand ruby gems. The most special thing about this world's oldest Buddhist stupa is that there are eight fibres of Lord Buddha's hair kept here. This temple is said to be 2600 years old, but no evidence of when exactly it was built has been found so far.

The most interesting thing in Myanmar is that the women of the Padaung tribe here wear metal witches around their neck from the age of five to make their neck beautiful and long. Another interesting thing in this country is that pregnant women here are not allowed to eat bananas and chillies. Myanmar is the largest country in Southeast Asia and the 40th most in the world Big Country. Its north-east borders cover Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Chittagong province of Bangladesh in India.
