According to reports from the United Arab Emirates, the victims were identified as Dr. Sulaymaan Al Majid and Frianza Parveen, a 26-year-old Pakistani woman who was piloting the aircraft. The crash occurred off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah shortly after the aircraft took off from the Jazirah Aviation Club on Sunday afternoon.
Circumstances of the Crash
The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the crash happened around 2.00 pm, near the Cove Rotana Hotel. Investigators are actively working to uncover the exact cause of the incident, meticulously analyzing evidence and gathering crucial information from the scene. Initial reports suggest the glider lost radio communication and attempted an emergency landing. Tragically, both occupants succumbed to their injuries despite resuscitation efforts.
In a statement reported by AFP, UAE's aviation authority said, “Initial investigations indicate the glider lost radio contact and later made an emergency landing attempt. Unfortunately, neither occupant survived.”
Family’s Heartbreaking Loss
Dr. Sulaymaan's family, including his parents and younger brother, were present at the aviation club to witness his flight. The young doctor had rented the aircraft for a sightseeing experience with his family. Sulaymaan’s younger brother was scheduled to take the next flight, but the family’s plans turned into a tragedy.
The family learned of Sulaymaan’s untimely death shortly after 4:30 p.m., leaving them devastated.
A Promising Career Cut Short
Born and raised in the UAE, Dr. Sulaymaan Al Majid had recently begun a promising career in medicine. His LinkedIn profile lists him as a clinical fellow at the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom.
The tragic loss of Sulaymaan and Frianza Parveen has left their families, friends, and colleagues in shock as authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
