A Somalian Company in Mogadishu have been holding hostage of 33 Indian laborers including 21 from Gorakhpur division, 6 from Bihar and 1 each from Punjab and Himachal Pradesh for the last eight months. The High Commission of India in Kenya is in touch with the Somalian government to rescue the 33 Indian labourers from the hostage. The Indian High Commission has given assurance to provide the required assistance to the labourers.

The High Commission said it is trying hard to immediate rescues of 33 Indian laborers from Mogadishu, Somalia. The Commission is also in touch with the labourers, to provide them the assistance needed without delay. The Somalian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assured the Indian Commission that the necessary arrangements will be made for these 33 people to visit India soon.Rajesh Mani of Manav Seva Sansthan took this matter to Twitter to contact the Indian High commission in Kenya to seek help for the rescue. He came to know about this matter when a labourer from Kushinagar district contacted him and explained the issue in Whatsapp and has sent a video of their current sitaution in the factory campus, company took over their passport and is threatening to shoot if they demand salary and for the past 15 days no food was given.

Mani has contacted the Indian High Commission in Kenya and the external affairs ministry through Twitter and e-mail and got an assurance for helping the labourers. Mani further said the labourers joined the company 10 months back, first two months they got a good treatment from the company, but the last eight months they were not paid for the work.
