36 drones are shot down by Ukraine in attacks by Russia overnight

Kyiv: On Thursday, Ukraine claimed that it had destroyed all 36 Russian drones made in Iran that had been launched overnight in what Ukraine claimed were attacks on critical infrastructure and military facilities.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president, acknowledged that it had been a "uneasy night" but praised the air defences' efforts.
"The enemy continued to terrorise Ukraine by using 36 Shahed (drones).

Nobody succeeded in achieving their goal. He expressed his gratitude for the perfect outcome on the Telegram messaging app, writing, "Thanks to our air defence forces.

Since last October, Moscow has routinely sent waves of drones to attack targets in Ukraine. Moscow began its full-scale invasion in February of last year. Drones are slower than advanced missiles, but they are more affordable and disposable.

The Ukrainian air force stated on Telegram that "the enemy probably intended to attack critical infrastructure and military facilities in the western regions of the state." It claimed that drones made in Iran, the Shahed 136 and Shahed 131, were used.

The military head of Kyiv claimed that several waves of drones had attempted to attack the city but that every one of them had been shot down. It was, according to him, Kyiv's 12th attack this month.

In the south and west of Ukraine, regional and military authorities reported shooting down drones.
