New Delhi: India has now set up a new milestone in the battle with the corona epidemic. A record 42 million people in India have been given vaccine doses, beating the corona from the indigenous vaccine. In the last 24 hours, 27 lakh people have been immunized. Frontline workers have been vaccinated in the first phase and now the elderly over 60 years of age are being vaccinated for the corona.

According to the latest report of the Union Health Ministry, more than 1 crore people over the age of 60 years were covered within just 15 days. India's incubation drive (vaccination speed) is now second in the world after the UK. Suresh Jadhav, director, Serum Institute, has said that It will take at least three to four months for India to complete the Covid-19 incubation drive for frontline workers and people above the age of 60 years. The vaccination started in India on January 16, 2021.

Corona cases have again increased in the country in the month of March. Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh have seen a sharp rise in infection cases. Night curfew has been imposed in Maharashtra and Punjab, while schools, colleges are being closed and lockdown in hotspot areas in other states including Madhya Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said that he is preparing to start vaccination for the youth in the third phase before Holi.
