Bhiwandi Incident: Death toll rises to 41, 50 people feared to be trapped

Mumbai: The death toll in a building collapse accident in Bhiwandi in Maharashtra has risen to 41 on Wednesday. The accident occurred in a three-story building in the Patel compound area of Bhiwandi, adjoining Thane last Sunday night. The country's President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the incident. Rescue operations are still going on in Bhiwandi under which apprehensions are being expressed that about 50 people may be trapped in the debris.

All possible help is being provided to the victims of the incident in Bhiwandi. In Bhiwandi, the stranded people are being pulled out of the rubble by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) under a rescue operation. According to sources, about 20 families lived in the building. According to locals, the building is reported to be about 40 years old.

It was a three-story building in the Patel compound area near Dhamankar Naka in Bhiwandi, adjoining Thane, Mumbai. The incident occurred at about 40 minutes past three of the clock on Monday morning. The local people started rescue operations after the incident. Thereafter, NDRF and other rescue teams reached the spot.
