New Delhi: The poor system of courts in India has been questioned for a long time. The situation in the courts has become such that the common man thinks ten times before going there. According to government figures, 414 posts of judges are lying vacant in 25 high courts of the country. According to the Law Ministry data, the posts of 1079 judges are sanctioned in the North Courts of the country. On September 1, 414 posts are vacant.

The number of vacancies was 409 in August and 403 in July. In June this year, 399 posts were vacant and 396 in May. The number was 399 in April and 394 in March. There were 400 vacancies in February and 392 in January. More than 43 lakh cases are pending in 25 high courts. The three-member Supreme Court Collegium recommends the names of candidates for High Court judges. A bench of five judges of the top court recommends names for appointment to the Supreme Court.

The High Court scrutinizes the names of the candidates for it and sends these to the Law Ministry. After getting the background check report of these candidates from IB, the ministry sends it to the apex court collegium for a final decision.
