Speaking to the media, Inspector General of Delhi Jail and Delhi Jail Spokesperson Raj Kumar told that, many prisoners have been released from other jails too. The highest number of inmates released on Saturday from Delhi jails is (356) of the prisoners in the category of interim bail. The Inspector General of Prison further stated that "63 prisoners have been released on emergency (accidental) parole".

Under interim bail, the prisoner is released for 45 days. While the prisoner can stay out of jail for 8 weeks on accidental parole. All this exercise has been done to maintain social distancing by reducing the number of inmates in jail.
