Mumbai: Maharashtra Rehabilitation Minister Vijay Wadettiwar said last Wednesday, "At least 436 people have died in various rain-related incidents in the state during the monsoon season since June 1. It is also said to include at least 15 deaths in the last 3 days alone. Heavy rains caused heavy floods and all this was caused by the impact of Cyclone Gulab. After the recent flood review meeting convened by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the Minister has made a statement stating that the bodies of at least six out of 436 people have not been recovered so far.

In fact, recently, Wadettiwar said, "The state is badly affecting the uncertainties of nature during this monsoon season. Out of 436 deaths so far, 196 have been killed due to electric attacks. The rest of their lives were caused by floods, house accidents, landslides or other tragedies related to hill collapse, drowning rain.'' Let me tell you all that in September alone, 71 deaths were reported from different areas, while the biggest solo tragic incident of the season took place on July 23, where more than 60 people were buried alive.

It is also being said that monsoon rains were compounded by incidents like mega-floods in July, heavy rains in coastal Konkan, Marathwada, Vidarbha, fresh magic generated by cyclone Gulab at present. Before the monsoon, in mid-May, the state was hit by Cyclone Tauktae, killing at least 86 people, most of them in Arabian Sea events around Mumbai high fields. The IMD has predicted the rainy season in Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, though other parts of the Konkan state may receive less rainfall till October 4 for the next few days.
