Dadabhai Naoroji, born on 4 September 1825, was a Parsi intellectual, educationist, cotton merchant and political and social leader of British India. He is known as the 'Veteran Man of India'. From 1892 to 1895 he was also a Member (MP) of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. Today, on his birth anniversary, we are going to tell you 5 such things, which you might not know.

1- Dadabhai's father died at the age of 4 years and his mother Manekabai raised him alone. She was not educated herself but left no stone unturned to teach Dadabhai. His mother's biggest contribution was in making Dadabhai successful.

2- Dadabhai Naoroji gave the famous 'Drain Theory'. Actually, the British always used to talk about the good of India. They used to say that we are doing everything for India only. But Dadabhai Naoroji opened his entire raw paper. He made it public that the British carry the raw material from India to Britain. Made in the factory there, they are selling in India at a high price. That is why there are no factories in India.

3- Dadabhai Naoroji helped in the formation of the East India Association in 1867. Dadabhai Naoroji was made President of the Indian National Congress in 1886. Later in 1892, he became a member of the Liberal Party in the Parliament of Britain.

5- In 1906, during the Calcutta session of Congress, Dadabhai Naoroji put Swaraj i.e. the rule of India as the goal of the Congress Party. At that time, this was the first announcement of its kind. Dadabhai Naoroji was called Grand Old Man of India. He is was also called the Father of 'Indian Freedom Struggle.
