New Delhi: Monsoon season is slowly ending in many parts of the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that rainfall has now reduced throughout the country. IMD officials said that this monsoon season has recorded the highest rainfall in August in 44 years, but now the rainfall is decreasing throughout the country.

The first three days of September saw 27.5 percent less rainfall. The scientists said that weather conditions are likely to remain largely dry even after small incidents of heavy rains in some areas of northwest and peninsular India. RK Gennami, a senior scientist at the National Weather Forecasting Center (NWFC), IMD, has said that there is no possibility of rain for the next one week. The monsoon season will come to an end after some sporadic incidents of heavy rain in northwest India and the southern peninsula.

IMD predicts a considerable amount of rainfall in Telangana

Except for peninsular India, rainfall is expected to decrease in September in all other areas. Peninsular India received 71.5 percent more rainfall in the first three days of September. The IMD said in its bulletin issued on Thursday that the western end of the monsoon trough (from Ganganagar in western Rajasthan to the Bay of Bengal) is south of its normal position and is expected to remain the same for the next two days. The eastern end lies north of its normal position. The monsoon trough is expected to shift north from its normal position on Saturday (5 September).
