Rains in Telangana have been normal to severe in the last few days. The rains over the state have been plentiful this year, say, meteorologists. By the end of August, the state has received 42 percent more rainfall than its normal this year. As against a normal of 584.2 mm of rainfall the state has received 830.1 mm of rainfall. Even better, there are 14 districts in the state which are in large excess. Also, there are no such districts that have deficient rainfall. Weather scientists attribute the monsoon to the rise in the number of weather systems that have taken place over the state.

Heavy rains lashed several parts of Delhi

“This year, there have been consecutive weather systems that brought over rains over the state. This month (August) there have been close to five systems that came in over the state from the Bay of Bengal. These caused rains. We can now say that the south-west monsoon over the state has been good,” said B Raja Rao, a meteorologist with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), told a leading daily.

Pakistan: Torrential rains kills 125 people including 53 children

This is in stark contrast to the performance of the monsoon, last year.  In 2019, there were 23 districts that had received normal rain and only 10 districts were there that had received excess rainfall. Officials said that the rains that were received last year, were moderate in comparison to what lashed the state last year. Still, the situation is much better as this year the rains that lashed Telangana also led to flood-like situations in the state.

Today there may be heavy rains in this state!
