Ahmedabad: In these days, there has been an uproar in many districts of Gujarat due to heavy rains. Parts of the districts of south and central Gujarat have received heavy rainfall, leaving rivers in spate and low-lying areas inundated, from where 1,500 people have been evacuated and evacuated to safer places. At the same time, the MET department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Dang, Navsari and Valsad districts of south Gujarat in the next five days.  

In Gujarat, 61 people have died due to heavy rains so far, while 272 animals have also lost their lives. At the same time, heavy to very heavy rain has also been recorded in Ahmedabad city. Many areas of the city have been inundated and most of the underpasses are temporarily closed due to the submergence of roads. In view of incessant rains, the district administration today ordered the closure of schools of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Chhota Udepur, Panchmahal (central Gujarat) and several parts of the Dang district have recorded very heavy rainfall. Bodeli taluka in Chhota Udepur recorded 433 mm rainfall in just 12 hours till 6 pm on Sunday, leading to flooding of low-lying areas.

Officials have informed that the Uchch and Heran rivers are flowing above the danger mark. In the Chhota Udepur district, schools, colleges, industrial training institutes and Anganwadis will remain closed today due to heavy rains. Deputy Magistrate Satish Mal said, "We have so far evacuated 65 people from low-lying areas of Bodeli town and Akona village in Naswari taluka of Chhota Udepur district. More than 800 people have been evacuated to safer places. Officials of Navsari district are also on alert as the Cauvery and Ambika rivers in the district are flowing above the danger mark.
