New Delhi: Godfather of Sudoku Maki Kaji has tragically passed away at the age of 69. He was known as a puzzle lover and publisher. Maki Kaji's company has reported his death. Maki Kaji was a university dropout. He worked in a printing company before the establishment of Puzzle Magazine.

Kaji introduced Sudoku to the world. His company, Nikolay, said on its website that Maki Kaji, known as Sudoku's godfather, was loved by puzzle lovers around the world. The cause of Maki Kaji's death was cancer of the bile tube. Sudoku Takriban became popular outside Japan 20 years ago. In fact, the main reason for its popularity was the printing of it by foreign newspapers.

Sudoku is praised as a way to keep mental abilities sharp. A World Championship is also held every year since 2006 with Sudoku. Kaji continued to create and improve puzzles with the help of readers of his Quarterly Puzzle magazine. He stepped down as head of his company in July due to poor health reasons.
