7 players tested COVID-19 positive of the 11 teams in Goa: Indian Super League 2020

Indian Super League is to start next month at three different venues- Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Margao; GMC Athletic Stadium, Bambolim; and Tilak Maidan Stadium, Vasco under deadly COVID 19 threat. The league administration is keen on implementing the COVID-19 protocols. 11 teams comprising of players from India and abroad have registered for the league to be played behind the closed doors.

Among the 11 clubs FC Goa, Hyderabad FC and Kerala Blasters FC have begun their pre-season training at their designated venues, while Bengaluru FC is preparing at their academy in Bellary. After the ISL recommended quarantine is over the remaining teams will start their practice. Chennaiyin FC has not announced the date of arrival yet and the SC East Bengal's squad is will reach Goa by October 16. Among foreign arrivals, Peter Hartley and Nerijus Valskis of Jamshedpur FC reached India last Friday and NorthEast United's Uruguayan attacker Federico Gallego has also arrived in Goa, as also Hyderabad FC's Aridane Santana. The first Hero ISL outfits arrived in Goa were ATK Mohun Bagan FC and Jamshedpur FC. Antonio Lopez Habas of ATK Mohun Bagan was the first ISL head coach to arrive in Goa, followed by Jamshedpur FC's Owen Coyle and NorthEast United FC's Gerard Nus. Kerala Blasters FC's Kibu Vicuna arrived on Saturday and the Hyderabad FC head coach Manuel Marquez also arrived. Mumbai City FC's head coach Spanish Sergio Lobera and FC Goa's Spaniard Juan Ferrando, will reach on Monday and join the team post-quarantine. Odisha FC head coach Stuart Baxter visa approval is still pending.

Of the players, coach and the staff team COVID-19 test results, Seven players and an assistant coach tested positive. They are asymptomatic cases and the team identity is not revealed. They are in isolation at their respective hotels. Five tests during quarantine and three tests before the arrival in Goa are conducted as a preventive measure.
