Mumbai: Hundreds of crores of big frauds have come to light in Maharashtra. The Uddhav Thackeray government of Maharashtra itself has informed the Bombay High Court on Thursday. The government told the High Court that funds worth more than Rs 700 crore have been illegally extracted from the state exchequer. State Advocate General Ashutosh Kumbakoni has called it a scam in the government treasury in the court.

Advocate General Ashutosh Kumbakoni told the bench of Justice SC Dharmadhikari and Justice RI Chagla that the amount withdrawn illegally was spent on changing the names and salaries of several posts of thousands of non-academic staff of 6 universities of the state. The salary of many non-academic posts was increased in this entire rigging and they were improperly accepted the offer and were given salary and other allowances.

The Advocate General told the court that these universities not only changed the names of the posts but also increased their pay scales. However, there was no change in the duty of the staff. The most special thing is that no approval was obtained from the Finance Department for this. Kubhconi said that along with increasing the pay scale, lakhs of rupees were paid to some selected employees as allowances. In this way, it spent a total amount of more than Rs 700 crore.
