Lucknow: These days, there is such a craze of making 'reels' on social media that they even risk their lives to make reels. This passion for making reels is taking a toll on the lives of the youth. The latest example is of Northeast Railway Lucknow division, where 83 youths have died in the last 7 months in the affair of taking selfies or making reels with a moving train on tracks.
Apart from this, a total of 277 people have died while crossing the track while making reels, taking selfies, and wearing earphones. Railway Police Force (RPF) has launched Operation Jeevan Rakshak to save lives. In the North Eastern Railway, Lucknow division, between January and December 2021, 334 people lost their lives after being hit by a train while crossing the tracks or selfies or making reels. Talking about the data from January to July this year, in 7 months, 277 people have lost their lives after being cut off from the train.
According to Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Chandra Mohan Mishra, earlier people crossing the railway line used to get hit by the train due to negligence. But, now some people are deliberately losing their lives in an attempt to take selfies or make reels. Along with this, many people carelessly cross the railway track while listening to songs with headphones on and lose their lives due to being hit by a train.
