New Delhi: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain's bail plea was today heard by the Rouse Avenue Court. Jain's lawyer and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal argued in favour of bail, saying there was no reason to keep him in jail now. Sibal said a charge sheet has also been filed against Satyendar Jain and the testimony has also been completed.
Hearing the bail plea of Satyendra Jain in Rouse Avenue Court, advocate Sibal has said that he has been imprisoned for the last three months and a charge sheet has been filed against him. Now there is no justification to keep him in jail, so he should be granted bail. Earlier, Satyendra Jain was admitted to LNJP Hospital after his health deteriorated. He was admitted to the hospital after his oxygen level dropped and from there he was directed to be produced in court through video conferencing. At the same time, the court had once denied bail saying that Jain is an influential person, and the possibility of tampering with evidence cannot be ruled out.
Satyendar Jain, a minister in the Kejriwal government, was arrested by the ED on May 30 in a money laundering case. After the arrest of 57-year-old Satyendra Jain, the ED raided the premises of people associated with him. Undisclosed assets worth about Rs 2.85 crore and 133 gold coins were recovered during the raids by the ED. However, when ED asked questions related to corruption from Satyendar Jain, he evasively said that he has lost his memory and now he does not remember anything.
