New Delhi: Nine new justices will take over in the country's largest court today. This will be the first time that 9 judges will be sworn in simultaneously. With the swearing-in of new judges, the number of judges in the Supreme Court, including the Chief Justice of India (CJI), will increase to 33. The Chief Justice of the country (CJI) NV Ramana will administer the oath to him in office at 10.30 am.
Tell you that the swearing-in ceremony of new judges in the Supreme Court is usually held in the courtroom of the Chief Justice. But this time the event will be held in the auditorium built in the new building of the apex court. For the first time, the swearing-in program of judges will also be telecast live on Doordarshan.
The justices who are scheduled to be sworn in today include Justice AS Oka, Justice Vikram Nath, Justice JK Maheshwari, Justice Hima Kohli, Justice BV Nagratna, Justice CT Ravindrakumar, Justice MM Sundaresh, Justice Bela Trivedi, and Justice PS Narasimha.
