Since Moscow began its military attack on Kiev nine days ago, at least 9,166 Russian servicemen have been killed, according to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. Russia also lost 939 armoured combat vehicles, 404 units of automobile equipment, 251 tanks, 105 artillery systems, 60 fuel tanks, 50 multiple rocket launchers, 37 helicopters, 33 aircraft, 18 air defence units, three unmanned aerial vehicles, and two speed boats between February 24 and Friday, according to a tweet from the Ministry.
According to the Ministry, these figures are still being clarified since "an accurate count is impossible owing to the high intensity of the military actions." The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine revealed in a Facebook post on Friday that Russia has "exhausted most of the operational reserves and begun preparations for the transfer of additional forces and resources from the southern and eastern military districts" as it continues to try to capture Kiev.
A group of Russian soldiers has retreated from Black Sea naval bases, though they are still "preparing for the landing of marines in Zatoka," according to the source. The post went on to say that Russian soldiers had occupied Mariupol, a port city, a day after seizing Kherson, another vital city. Since the attack began nine days ago, Kherson has become the first large city to fall.
