Consumption of alcohol has become the most common practice followed by people of all age groups, across the world. According to a research,  Adolescents are more prominently indulged in boozing than any other age group. Well, the studies concluded that drinking has a considerable impact on the metabolism of the body.
The researchers working at the University of Eastern Finland and Kuopio University Hospital informed that alcohol consumption leads to reduced brain grey matter volume and imposes a greater risk to women who are frequent boozers.
Noora Heikkinen, a researcher asserted, "For instance, heavy-drinking adolescents showed increased concentrations of 1-methylhistamine, which, in turn, was associated with reduced brain grey matter volume."

The researchers who studied the effect of alcohol on adolescents found that the metabolism of heavy- and light-drinking young adults immensely affected their brain size and its efficiency. Via Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) they measured the volume of the grey matter of the brain.

Heikkinen postulated, "Although adolescent drinking is declining on average, we can see polarization: some adolescents are very heavy drinkers and they also use other substances."

Alcohol has paved its ways into the core of our society and seems to be ruining the future of the youth.
