Asian Games 2018 Live updates: Scripting a history PV Sindhu has become the first Indian to reach badminton singles finals in ongoing Asian games 2018. On a day 9 of 18th edition Asian games, Sindhu beat world number 2 Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi by 21-17, 15-21, 21-10 in the Women’s Singles event semi-final. Now She will face Tai Tzu Ying for GOLD medal. Tai Tzu Ying had defeated Saina Nehwal in the first semi-final on Monday
Sindhu lost her rhythm in the second game where her Japanese opponent fought back to level the match after the former won the first game 21-17. However in the crucial game, Sindhu was back putting all her efforts, she comfortably went on to win the game 21-10 with which she also scripted history books of record.
Earlier India's star shuttler Saina Nehwal signed off with the Bronze medal after losing to Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying in women's singles semifinal. Saina lost by 21-17, 21-14. Worth mention here this is India's first individual Badminton medal in Asian Games since 1982.
India won a medal at the Asian Games in badminton’s individual event after 36 years. In 1982, the renowned Syed Modi won an individual medal from Asiad. Overall India has won eight medals in badminton in Asian Games 2018 out of which six came in team events.
