The case of appointment in M. Joseph's Supreme Court has been hanging for several months. According to sources, the central government has now approved the recommendation of the college. Apart from this, the government has approved the recommendation of the Collegium of Appointment of two more Judges Madras High Court Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court Vineet Sharan and also in the Supreme Court.

On January 10, the Collegium headed by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Deepak Mishra, on the recommendation related to appointment of Justice Joseph. Since then, the case had been hanged in the balance. During this time, the government had also rejected the recommendation of the Collegium several times. Earlier, the Central Government on 26th April, M. Joseph was returned to the Collegium for reconsideration of the recommendation for promoting the file, saying that this proposal was not in line with the criteria of the High court.

Not only this, the government had also questioned the superiority of Justice Joseph in high court judges by returning the file. After that, there was a lot of controversy over this. Significantly, Justice Joseph was the head of the bench, who rejected the decision of the Narendra Modi government to remove the Congress government in Uttarakhand in 2016 and impose President's rule. So it was believed that the government is not applying the recommendation of the Collegium related to the appointment of Justice Joseph in the Supreme Court for a revenge.
