Sathish Kumar Sivalingam won the third gold medal for India in weightlifting as he lifted 317 kg in total, 144 kg in Snatch and 173 kg in Clean-and-Jerk in Men’s 77 kg weightlifting at Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast on the day 3. It is his 2nd consecutive gold medal at quadrennial Games, as he clinched the gold in Glasgow in 2014, as well.

 Worth mentioning here, it is India’s 5th medal so far in Commonwealth Games 2018 and interestigaly all of them have come in weightlifting so far. He faced a hard competition from England’s Jack Oliver who clinched silver after a difficult clean-and-jerk round.

To put Sivalingam's gold in outlook, he was the first from India's weightlifting contingent to draw attention that how the team has been missing a physio and masseur to help the weightlifters get better in between their lifts. Today, he lifted a total of 317 kg to down Englan'd Jack Oliver. 

India's Sathish Kumar Sivalingam is on top position for now with a total lift of 313 kg followed by England’s Jack Oliver, who is on the total weight of 312 kg. while Francois Etoundi from Australia is on 305 kg for a bronze medal.
