Congress announced 9 candidates name for Lok Sabha election 2019

On Monday evening, Congress has announced the list of nine candidates for Lok Sabha in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Among them is the Commonwealth Games gold medalist Krishna Poonia, who has been given ticket from Jaipur Rural against Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathod. According to the list released by the party, six candidates in Rajasthan, two in Maharashtra and one in Gujarat have been declared as candidates.

Earlier, Congress has announced a total of 314 candidates for Uttar Pradesh and some other states, including the names of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi. With this, the Congress has so far announced the names of 325 candidates for the upcoming general election. Poonia, a three-time Olympic participant, is the MLA from the Sadulpur constituency in Rajasthan.

The most prominent names in the candidates are Krishna Poonia, who will compete against the Olympic medal winner Rathore from Jaipur Village. Ace thrower, Krishna, won gold in the Commonwealth Games 2010, while Rathore won the silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Krishna Poonia is also a politician at the moment. The party has fielded Mohan Joshi from Pune, a seat which was earlier represented in the Lok Sabha by tainted Congress leader Suresh Kalmadi.
