Sri Lankan great bowler Muttiah Muralitharan has sparked on Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin calling him the finest spinner in present worldwide. Complimenting Ashwin on becoming the fastest bowler to reach the mark of 300 Test wickets in his 54th match, Muralitharan said, "I want to congratulate him (Ashwin). It's a big accomplishment as getting 300 Test wickets is not an effortless job. Definitely, he is the best spinner in the world at the time."

Ravichandran Ashwin went on to break Dennis Lillee's record on India's credible win over Sri Lanka in the second Test. He is not on the One-Day team but hopefully, he will return and do wonders in the small formats say the spin legend, who holds the world record of capturing 800 wickets in 133 Test matches.Not just quality of two teams but the capability of contests have taken the sheen out of India-Sri Lanka series, a fact which was recently shown by India captain Virat Kohli. Asked Muralitharan about the issue, he gave a tongue-in-cheek reply. "I can't say there is too much of (India-Sri Lanka) cricket but maybe Virat Kohli is getting bored of winning every time," he said.

 

Muttiah complemented the present Indian team under caption Virat Kohli for its level of consistency, he expressed serious concern about the sorry condition of Sri Lankan cricket. "India is a very good side and I rank them very higher. You can't take credit away from India by saying that Sri Lanka is a weak team. They are doing really well in every Pattern," he further said.
