"External Affairs Minister agreed on giving Antigua Citizenship to Choksi," says Congress

Congress President Rahul Gandhi targeted the Narendra Modi government for the fugitive diamond businessman Mehul Choksi's acquisition of Antigua's citizenship and claimed that this government had supported Mehul Choksi, who had looted 13 thousand crores of Punjab National Bank so that he could become the citizen of Antigua.

He said  Mehul Choksi escaped PNB's 13,000 crores scam and fled from India with the help of some leaders. Earlier, Congress Chief Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala issued a statement saying that Antigua's 'Citizenship Investment Unit' The press release said that in May 2017, the Indian Foreign Ministry issued a 'clean chit' certificate to give citizenship to Mehul Choksi. 

Surjewala issued a copy of the press release of 'Antigua's' Citizenship Investment Unit, claiming that the 'Clean Chit' certificate had clarified that there was no adverse information about Choksi. He questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi who did not raise the issue of citizenship to Choksi during the meeting with Antigua Prime Minister Gaston Brown in April 2018, when he was granted citizenship on 4 January this year.

The BJP claimed that the alleged crimes of fugitive industrialist Mehul Choksi and Nirov Modi were highlighted by the Narendra Modi-led government which they did during the UPA regime. BJP spokesman Anil Baluni, on the charge of Congress's allegation of the government's involvement in the disappearance of Choksi, reversed, saying that the fugitive's lawyer also claimed in a statement that with his "big leaders" of opposition parties (Choksi) There were relations. 

He claimed, "The Congress is making baseless allegations against the BJP so that he can distribute the attention of the allegations against his senior leaders about his relationship with him. Although people are convinced that we highlighted the crimes of Choksi which he had done during the UPA government."
