May 24, 2016: FIFA acting Secretary General Markus Kattner has been sacked after being accused of paying him bonuses worth millions of pounds.

World governing body FIFA said, “An investigation exposed breaches of fiduciary tasks. The 45-year old German took over as acting General Secretary after Jerome Valcke was packed for irregularities.”

The notice is not linked to the compensation made to Michel Platini by former President Sepp Blatter in 2011.

Kattner attached to FIFA in 2003 as Director of Finance, becoming Deputy Secretary General in 2007 and his pay, bonuses were part of a agreement that was hidden by relevant FIFA committees.
