In the battle for pride, it was PNG who came out on top against Hong Kong in their playoff match at the Old Hararians Sports Club, Harare. With both teams losing their ODI status by virtue of various permutations and combinations, Saturday's clash didn't have too much importance attached to it.

Earlier won the toss and opting to bat first, PNG got off to a steady start as the openers put on 68 for the first wicket before Nadeem Ahmed sparked a mini collapse to leave PNG at 72 runs for 3. Chad Soper and Mahuru Dai added 59 runs for the sixth wicket before India-born offie Kinchit Shah finished off the innings with a four-fer that restricted PNG to 200.

With not a huge score to chase, Hong Kong started off in whirlwind fashion as they brought up 80 in their 10th over, but the game turned when skipper Babar Hayat was dismissed by Charles Amini. From 81 for 2, Hong Kong collapsed to 142 all out losing their last eight wickets for 61 runs. Norman Vanau and Charles Amini shared eight wickets amongst themselves to consign Hong Kong to the last spot in the table.

Brief scores: Papua New Guinea 200/10 in 48.2 overs (Tony Ura 49; Kinchit Shah 4-10) beat Hong Kong 142 all out in 35.2 overs (Babar Hayat 37; Norman Vanua 4-24) by 58 runs.
