Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza paved way for Zimbabwe's second victory in as many games as they overcame Afghanistan by a narrow margin of two runs in a low-scoring thriller action game at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Having suffered a top-order capitulation after opting to bat, Zimbabwe's innings was resurrected by Brendan Taylor (89) and Raza (60), who put on a 98-run stand for the fifth wicket. However, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Zadran spearheaded a Zimbabwe collapse during the latter stage of their innings as the hosts lost six wickets for 32 runs to be bowled out for 196 with seven overs still remaining in their innings.

When Afghanistan comes to bat, they had an average start in the chase to be reduced to 58 for 3 before fifties from Rahmat Shah and Mohammad Nabi, who also added 98 runs, got them back on track. The similarity did not end there as Afghanistan's innings mirrored Zimbabwe's effort during the end stages, with Muzarabani and Raza combining to reduce them to 177 for 9. Having lost six wickets for only 21 runs, it was down to the last-wicket pair of Dawlat Zadran and Shapoor Zadran to pull off a heist. With only a wicket standing in their way, a Zimbabwe win appeared imminent but the Zadran duo remained defiant as they brought the equation down to 7 off 12 and then 4 in the last over. Afghanistan were three away from victory when Vitori accounted for Dawlat off the third ball of the over, leading to a heartbreak in the Asian team's camp and jubilation in that of the home team.

Brief scores: Zimbabwe 196 in 43 overs (Brendan Taylor 89, Sikandar Raza 60; Rashid Khan 3-38, Mujeeb Zadran 3-49) beat Afghanistan 194 in 49.3 overs (Rahmat Shah 69, Mohammad Nabi 51; Blessing Muzarabani 4-47, Sikandar Raza 3-40) by 2 runs.
