Jagannath means the Lord of Universe, Jagannath is the form of Hindi God Lord Vishnu. The place is known as Jagannath Puri. The temple is situated in Orissa. People are worshipping him for years. People believe a Hindu devotee must visit once to the temple to clear all his sins. It is believed that whatever we wish lord Jagannath fulfill all the wishes if we ask from a pure heart.

Every year in the month of June/July, Rathyatra is organized in Orissa. Where a palki is decorated for the lord and he roams around the city. During the whole yatra, people are seen celebrating the colors of devotion. Thousands of devotees all around the world reach there and take the glimpse of the yatra.

On this day Lord Jagannath with his elder brother Lord Balarama and sister Subhadra, go on a vacation, to their aunt's place at the Gundicha Temple situated at a distance of 2 km from their temple. This day is of great significance to the Hindus. It is during this time that the three deities of Jagannath, Lord Balarama, and Subhadra are taken out in a grand procession in specially made temple-like chariots called raths, which are pulled by thousands of devotees.

How to Reach:

By Air :

You can reach to Jagannath Puri from Biju Patnaik Airport, Bhubaneswar, which is around 60 km from Puri. The city is easily accessible from the airport. You can easily rent a cab. This airport is well-connected with important cities of the India such as Delhi, Nagpur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Chennai.

By Rail :

The place is connected to railways also. It is the last stop on the East Coast Railway. It is connected through direct express and other super-fast trains with important Indian cities such as Okha, Delhi, Tirupati, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad.

By Road :

Travelling trough road to Puri can be a pleasure, there is a lot of beautiful location which is a must seen during the way. Puri is easily connected with the road through a good network of roads. From the bus stand near the Gundicha Temple, buses from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are available after every 10-15 minutes. Minibusses for Konark are also available from here, after every 20-30 minutes. You can also take buses for Kolkata and Visakhapatnam.

Rath Yatra or Car Festival Puri commences on the 14th July, Saturday 2018 and Return Car Festival or 'Bahuda Jatra' falls on 23rd July Monday 2018.
