West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that in 2019 the opposition will have a shared leadership against the opposition. Mamta Banerjee is in Delhi on her three-day tour, where she will meet Congress leader Sonia Gandhi today. The leaders of other opposition parties will also meet Mamta.
Mamata Banerjee will meet parliamentarians from opposition parties from 12.30 am to 4 pm in Parliament. At the same time, Trinamool MPs will meet in Parliament. At 5 o'clock, she will meet Sonia Gandhi at her house. In the evening at 6 pm, the former Prime Minister will meet HD Deve Gowda. At 8 o'clock at 8 a.m. in South Avenue, she will meet Delhi's CM Arvind Kejriwal.
Indicating the opposition not to announce the prime ministerial candidate for the next Lok Sabha election next year, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee had said on Tuesday that the Opposition Front will go to the polls with a collective leadership to counter BJP.
Under the three-day visit of New Delhi, Banerjee will meet Congress Senior leader Sonia Gandhi and other key leaders of the opposition on Wednesday. He will also invite them to join his rally in Calcutta on January 19 next year. The goal of his rally is the demonstration of opposition unity. Banerjee told reporters, "In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP will have a collective leadership to fight. I will meet all the opposition leaders and invite them for a rally. I will meet Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday. "
The Trinamool leader was questioned whether she could be made the prime ministerial candidate for the proposed anti-BJP front. Banerjee is seen as a strong contender. The January 19 rally is being seen as an exercise to further strengthen Banerjee's position in the opposition. The Congress has already indicated that it is not against any non-RSS supported leader of any party to be nominated for the prime ministerial post.
