Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that today there is no such area where women will not be seen working in a large number. The agricultural sector and the dairy sector of the country cannot be imagined without the contribution of women. This is what he said during an interaction with the women of self-help groups. He said that it is his good fortune that today there is an opportunity to communicate with more than 10 million women across the country. All of you are an inspirational example of self-determination, entrepreneurship and collective efforts.

Prime Minister Modi said that when we talk about women's empowerment, the most important requirement is to provide women the opportunity to identify their own strengths, their abilities, their skills. If you look at any sector today, then you will see women working there in large numbers. In the rural areas of our country, for small entrepreneurs, for the workers, self-help groups are playing a very important role. These self-help groups form the basis of economic growth of the poor, especially women. These groups are making women aware, making them financially and socially strong too.

He said that under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna-National Rural Livelihood Mission, the target of reaching millions of rural poor families in 2.5 lakh gram panchayats all over the country, they have been targeted to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities. This scheme has been started in all the states and he congratulated all the states and its officers who have done this project to reach millions of women and improve their lives. Four times more self-help groups have been formed than four times and more women have been linked to it, which reflects our government's commitment towards the empowerment of women.

Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - NRLM has emerged as the largest institutional forum for women empowerment. This mission has now started implementation in blocks (600) spread across 600 districts in 29 states and 5 Union Territories. More than 5 crore women have been organized in 45 lakh self-help groups until May 2018. In addition, 2.48 lakh rural organizations and 20 thousand cluster level associations have also been upgraded.
