Padma Bhushan: Sushil Kumar's coach applied for the wrestler

Sushil Kumar, the Two-time Olympic medallist wrestler coach has applied for the Country's third highest civilian award Padma Bhushan. Sushil told ANI that "Coach Yashveer has applied for Padma Bhushan award for me,". Sushil Kumar is the only Indian athlete who has won two Olympic medals i.e., a silver and a bronze.

The Rio-Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu yesterday by the Sports Authority was nominated for this year's Padma Bhushan and the former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni by the  Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) On September 20 was nominated for the prestigious award as well.

Sindhu after the nomination became the second athlete after former Indian skipper MS Dhoni to be nominated for the award this year. Sindhu was awarded fourth highest civilian honor, Padma Shri in March 2015 and was conferred the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, the highest sporting honor in India in 2016.

The 22-year-old Sindhu on her nomination today thanked the Sports Ministry and said "I am very happy that my name has been recommended for the Padma Bhushan. I would like to thank the government and the Sports Ministry,"

Sindhu became the first Indian to grab the silver medal at the Olympic Games last year when she lost in the final against Carolina Marin of Spain at Rio de Janeiro.
