The SC / ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Bill 2018 will be presented in the Rajya Sabha today. It has been passed in the Lok Sabha yesterday. To amend the Act in its old and original form, the Constitution Amendment Bill was passed by the vote in the Lok Sabha. During this, the BJP and the opposition accused each other of being Dalit and anti-reservation. Asking the opposition to put this act into the new schedule of the Constitution, questioning the government's intention not to issue an ordinance in this matter while the BJP accused the Congress of doing injustice to the Dalits and tribals.

Significantly, the Supreme Court had in its decision on March 20, while amending several provisions of this Act, prohibited immediate arrest under this law. Not only that, it was also said in the judgment that under this law, the FIR could be registered after the inquiry of the DSP level officer and the arrest could be done only after the order of the SSP level officer. Before the arrest of the government employees, the high court had made the mandatory permission of the department. After this, the government had to face the opposition of its allies and the SC-ST MPs of the party along with the Dalit organizations.

Taking part in the discussions on this bill, Congress MP from Parliament, Mallikarjun Kharge, termed the BJP as a Dalit and anti-reservation party. He said that this government has manuscripts and it embodies the name of Ambedkar, Phule. Kharghe questioned why the government did not resort to the Ordinance to repeal the Supreme Court decision? Meanwhile, TDP MP asked the government why Justice AK Goyal KKhilif, who decides against the anti-Dalit government, did not show the courage to take impeachment? Why was he made to be the president of the NGT?
