US, India to hold ‘2+2 dialogue’ on Sept 6 to strengthen strategic ties; American delegation to land today

New Delhi: India and the United States of America with hope to fortify their global strategic ties in the first two-plus-two dialogue on Thursday, September 6 discussed the special focus of boosting military cooperation .In this dialogue both nations will try to settle disputes over India’s defense arrangements with Russia and crude oil import from Iran.

Worth mention heretThe dialogue was earlier delayed two times, once by the White house and once by PMO of India. The two nations will also look forward to finalize a deal on encrypted defence technologies, talking about ways to strengthen counter-terror cooperation. The focus on continued collaborative navy exercises in the Indo-Pacific region and try resolving tariff-related issues during the dialogue.

According to the report of the leading news agency ANI The US delegation will arrive in the national capital New Delhi on Wednesday. External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj is likely to have bilateral talks with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, while Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is likely to have talks with US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis on Thursday morning before the delegation-level talks start.

Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford will also be a part of the US delegation arriving tomorrow for 2+2 meeting.
