As, the Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli made history by leading his men to their first-ever victory over South Africa in their own home as the visitors achieved another comfortable win over the hosts in Port Elizabeth, hence taking a 4-1 lead in the 6-match series. Reviewing the Kohli's influential performance as captain, former Team India opener Virender Sehwag told that even though the 29-year-old is number one in terms of series wins, he isn't yet there as compared to the captains from the past including Sourav Ganguly.

For the victory, Virender Sehwag praises a lot to Kohli by saying "Kohli is the No.1 captain in terms of series wins. If we analyse the past eight series wins under his captaincy, we'll find that he is one of the best captains we have ever seen," Sehwag had said India TV. "Having said that, I believe that we should not compare him with the best of previous captains. He needs more time and experience as captain to reach where the past skippers are."

Hailing Kohli's ability to learn from the pressure of captaincy and further hone his skills, Sehwag asserted how the additional responsibility helped Kohli take his performance to greater levels.

"He has gained confidence with the captaincy. Unlike others, he has matured and has taken his individual game to the next level. He doesn't take the pressure of captaincy. In fact, he has improved his game with the responsibility. He has brought the trend of fitness in the camp," the 39-year-old Sehwag added.

While South African cricket great Jacques Kallis has advised Kohli to curb down his aggression, Sehwag went on to compare Kohli with Ganguly on the aspect, calling the former an upgraded version of Dada. "Kohli's aggression can be compared with Ganguly. In fact, he is an upgraded version of Sourav Ganguly. Under Ganguly's captaincy, we saw some incredible wins overseas and such has been the trend so far with Virat Kohli,” he asserted.

Viru also highlighted how Rahul Dravid once said that Kohli's aggression helps him drive himself. “I remember once Rahul Dravid said that Kohli's aggression suits him the best. Aggression doesn't guarantee you success, but it has been a big strength in Virat's case," Sehwag revealed.

The resurgence of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal has been the biggest positive from the limited-overs series so far and Sehwag has attributed this development of India's bowling department to none other than captain Kohli.

"The fighting team is the power of captain Kohli and I strongly believe that this team can do wonders in England and Australia. The best thing about Kohli's captaincy is that he brings the best out of individuals. The day bowlers stop performing Kohli's downfall will begin. His strength lies in the current bowling line-up," Sehwag further added.
