Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday lashes out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi Addressing to media reporters at an event in Mumbai, the veteran leader stated that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi could become the Prime Minister of the nation because the Congress preserved democracy in its 70 years span.

His remark came due to PM Modi’s attack on the grand old party.

Kharge said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been asking, at every event about what the Congress has done for the nation in the past 70 years, , adding that A chaiwala like him could become Prime Minister because Congress preserved democracy.

Kharge also hit on the Prime Minister over the issue of Emergency, asserting that while PM Modi speaks about the 1975 Emergency that imposed 43 years back, there has been an unsaid Emergency in the nation since the BJP-led Government came to power in 2014.

He further made allegation such that Farmers are committing suicide, agricultural schemes are failing, farmers aren't getting new loans and trade is on slow track in Modi rule.

His statements are reply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who launched a scathing attack on the Congress party over the issue of 1975 Emergency slapped by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Attacking the Gandhi family, the Prime Minister had asserted that Emergency was put in effect for the profit of only one family.
