Lucknow: In uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj district, the standing crop of farmers in more than half a dozen villages was burnt to ashes in a spark from a straw-making machine. Several fire tenders together somehow managed to control the fire. The fire had become so severe that fire tenders had to be called in from the neighbouring district of Kushinagar. The DM said that an assessment of the damage to the crop is being carried out, after which compensation will be provided to the farmers.

In fact, in the spark from the straw making machine here, the standing crop of 225 acres of the farmers was burnt to ashes in front of the eyes of the farmers. More than half a dozen villages have been affected in the incident. As soon as they saw, the earnings and hard work of the farmers were smoked and burnt in the flames. To control the incident, several fire tenders were engaged in extinguishing the fire throughout the day. The magnitude of the fire can be gauged from the fact that fire tenders had to be called from the adjoining district of Kushinagar, but by then the fire had been brought under control to a great extent.

In this accident, about 225 acres of crops of the farmers were burnt to ashes. DM Satyendra Kumar has appealed to the farmers not to use straw-reaper machines till the standing crop is cut. The district magistrate said that for this, people will also be made aware through chaupals in the villages. At the same time, the loss of farmers due to the fire incident is also being evaluated. Whatever compensation is made will be given to the farmers soon.
