Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to field Satender Singh for the by-election to the Adampur Assembly seat in Punjab. Senior party leader Sushil Gupta has given information in this regard on Wednesday. Singh quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) last month and joined the AAP. The Adampur seat bypolls are being held after Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi joined the BJP.

Satender Singh, who hails from Nyoli Khurd in Hisar, had contested on a Congress ticket in 2014 but had to face defeat. He later joined the BJP. AAP is the first party to field a candidate for this VIP seat in Haryana. At present, the candidate has not been announced by the BJP or Congress. There are chances that the BJP may field Kuldeep Bishnoi's son Bhavya. Although there has been no official word from the party about this, Kuldeep is constantly trying to get a ticket for his son.

Singh joined the AAP in Hisar last month in the presence of its national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. He said that he is joining the party after being influenced by the ideology of AAP and he will work for the development of Adampur. There are reports that Kejriwal has made massive preparations to stake claim to the Adampur seat.
