Police in Delhi have detained 25 AAP supporters at Singhu border over suspicions of planning to join a protest at the BJP headquarters against alleged cheating in the Chandigarh mayoral elections. Authorities stated that those detained would only be released after proper verification.

According to Delhi police, all the detained individuals are AAP supporters from Punjab and Haryana, believed to have been heading for the protest. Additional workers have also been intercepted. Security measures have been heightened in Central Delhi, with roads leading to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg barricaded and more personnel deployed, in anticipation of both AAP's demonstration and BJP's protest against corruption in the Kejriwal government.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister, who missed his fifth summons from the ED, accused authorities of obstructing party MLAs and volunteers en route to the protest. "First, votes were tampered with in the Chandigarh mayoral polls. Now, those peacefully protesting against it are being obstructed across Delhi," Kejriwal stated before the scheduled demonstration at 11 am.

In another statement, he expressed concern over the detention of elected representatives and volunteers, questioning the legality of such actions. AAP leader Priyanka Kakkar emphasized the party's right to protest and criticized the BJP's interference. She labeled the ED summons as illegal, vowing to take action once they are appropriately issued.

Regarding security measures, DCP Central M Harsha Vardhan assured readiness to prevent any law and order disruptions, affirming adequate deployment for a smooth operation.
